CEO/Aberdeen Standard Capital

Welcome to our latest and entirely digital edition of Capital Thinking. I sincerely hope this finds you safe and well, and coping with this ‘new normal’ in which we find ourselves. It would be an understatement to say the world looked very different when you last received a copy of our magazine. I’m sure none of us anticipated the seismic effect that the Coronavirus would have on our lives.

It has been a period of staggering uncertainty and change – and many of our articles reflect this. Our Global Outlook examines the Covid-19 crisis and its impact on economies and markets. And with many of us working from home, our Sector Focus highlights the technology companies keeping us online and productive at our kitchen tables. In the Innovation section, meanwhile, we discuss if digital healthcare can keep us hale and hearty in the future.

Thankfully, nature does not stop for a global pandemic; the seasons change and here we are, blessed with the colours of autumn again. In the Global Report, you can find out how urban forests are bringing the restorative power of nature into some cities and how lockdown has encouraged more of us to get on our bikes. With the environment providing such succour at this time, our Investment Themes article explains the importance of stewardship in creating a more sustainable future.

For some of us, the pandemic has allowed more time for reflection. I hope you find something of interest in this array of thought-provoking articles.

Thank you for continuing to support Aberdeen Standard Capital.
